City Year - Learning for Leaders

Swanee spoke to about 400 City Year Corps members. Sticking with the theme of acquiring skills and knowledge to change the world, she discussed lessons she has learned and continues to learn, during her life. By interacting with the audience, Swanee was able to engage youth attendees and listen to their stories of how they plan to take those life lessons and change the world.

Looking back on this year, one of the most poignant moments for me was the death of Elizabeth Edwards, former wife of and public advocate for presidential hopeful John Edwards of North Carolina.

After a six-year battle with cancer, Elizabeth Edwards died at her home in North Carolina yesterday at the age of 61. Americans knew Edwards in large part through her tragedies, but more importantly, they knew her for the vitality and determination she showed in dealing with them.

Oil Heiress Enters Women's Hall of Fame

Ambassador Hunt was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame along with Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art Dean of Engineering Dr. Eleanor Baum, Minnesota environmental advocate Winona LaDuke and University of Rochester astronomer Dr. Judith Pipher.
